

We are currently looking for an Upstream Process Scientist to join a leading Pharmaceutical company in Berkshire on a 12-month contract. This is an opportunity to contribute to upstream process development activities in a dynamic biotech environment. The role involves working within a collaborative team dedicated to advancing biologics manufacturing processes from lab-scale to pilot-scale, supporting the future pipeline of innovative biopharmaceuticals.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties as the Upstream Process Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will perform pilot scale upstream process development activities, including preparation and operation of bioreactors at 50L and 200L scale using single-use systems.
- As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will you will design experiments, plan resourcing, source raw materials, and maintain process equipment to support process optimisation.
- As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will conduct harvest process development activities at lab and pilot scale, aiding the strategy for successful harvest processing of biologics.
- As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will analyse laboratory data, identify trends, and present findings to line managers and project teams during internal meetings.
- As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will collaborate closely with downstream processing teams and GMP facilities to ensure alignment in process scale-up and successful implementation.
- As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will contribute to continuous process improvements and document process development activities effectively.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Upstream Process Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in relevant scientific or engineering field (e.g., Biological Sciences, Bioprocess Engineering).
- Proven expertise in operation of lab and pilot scale cell culture processes, including bioreactor systems, control software, and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of harvest processing of biologics and familiarity with associated processing techniques (preferred).
