Director - Formulation & Process Development

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Director of Formulation & Process Development to join a leading pharmaceutical services provider based in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned leader in pharmaceutical formulation to shape and oversee innovative drug development strategies from early clinical phases through to commercialisation.

In this senior role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for formulation development activities, ensuring seamless collaboration across functions and compliance with global regulatory standards. Your expertise will drive the delivery of high-quality, client-focused solutions supporting both clinical trials and commercial manufacturing.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the PS CR Director – Formulation & Process Development will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for formulation and process development activities within the organisation, aligning with business objectives and client needs.
• Define and oversee end-to-end formulation development strategies, including early phase formulation design, optimisation, and finalisation for late-stage and commercial products.
• Lead cross-functional teams across formulation, analytical support, manufacturing, and quality to ensure smooth progression from development to GMP manufacturing.
• Manage and develop the formulation development team, ensuring resource availability, capability enhancement, and fostering a scientific, high-performance culture.
• As the senior technical representative, support client interactions, regulatory inspections, and contribute to successful product approvals and life cycle management.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the PS CR Director – Formulation & Process Development we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

• A Degree or higher level in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in formulation development within a GMP environment, including leadership responsibilities supporting global regulatory submissions.
• Extensive knowledge of global regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH).
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, client-driven setting.
• As the PS CR Director – Formulation & Process Development, you will shape strategy, inspire teams, and drive excellence across development projects.
