Laboratory Technician

ROLE OVERVIEW

A leading company in the microbiome industry, based in the Chesterford Research Park, south of Cambridge, UK, is currently seeking a Laboratory Operations Technician for a temporary position. As a Laboratory Operations Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of novel therapies based on live bacteria, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in medicine.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Laboratory Operations Technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Support the scientific teams by supplying microbiological media and reagents, ensuring clean glassware, and managing lab waste disposal.

2. Manage the supply of compressed gas and liquid nitrogen to the laboratories, including changing gas cylinders and refilling cryo storage vessels.

3. Ensure laboratories are well-stocked, including ordering, receiving, and distributing supplies.

4. Perform basic laboratory and facilities checks and assist with maintenance by coordinating with on-site engineers.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Laboratory Operations Technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in biological sciences or proven experience in a scientific laboratory.

2. Proven industry experience in operational support within a biological sciences laboratory.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with preparing sterile laboratory supplies, including microbiological media, and stock management.
